The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) keeping its tradition of acknowledgment of the labor community of Pakistan has declared a bank holiday on Wednesday, May 1, in recognition of Labor Day.
All banks around the nation will be closed on May 1.
“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on May 1, 2024 (Wednesday) being a public holiday on the occasion of Labor Day, as declared by the Government of Pakistan,” the statement published by the SBP said.
Every year on May 1, people commemorate International Labor Day to honor the achievements of laborers and workers and to increase awareness of their rights.
Labor Day is celebrated every year in the world to acknowledge the efforts of the labor community of the world who are working tirelessly for the betterment of humanity.
It is often known as “May Day,” and it started in the nineteenth-century American labor union movement’s eight-hour day.
