This system is launched to improve educational quality throughout the province by enforcing strict working hours. A directive obtained by Dawn outlines that all school staff must follow set duty hours, with the department conducting random inspections to ensure adherence. Effective from August 11, the guidelines require principals and teachers to be present in school until 2:30 pm, reinforcing the timing regulations to enhance school operations and educational effectiveness.
The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has communicated new guidelines to the chief executive officers of District Education Authorities (DEAs) across Punjab, underlining the importance of adhering to the updated school schedule. Under the new instructions, teachers must prepare lesson plans, engage in ongoing professional development, and participate in academic and extracurricular activities during extended school hours and on alternate Saturdays. The department has Emphasized that no leniency will be permitted, and officers are responsible for enforcing full compliance with these new regulations.Effective August 15, the new schedule for single-shift schools is Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 1:30 pm, and Friday from 6 am to 12 noon. Double-shift schools will follow separate timings for morning and afternoon shifts. Teachers’ working hours will be slightly longer to facilitate school activities.
