PMDC Implements Tougher Regulations for PMDC Foreign College Admissions

The Pakistan Medical and dentistry Council (PMDC) has established a new policy for Pakistani students enrolling to undergraduate medical and dentistry schools overseas beginning in the 2024-2025 academic years.

The policy specifies certain required requirements for admission to these international universities.
Students must fulfill one of the following requirements to qualify for admission under the new PMDC policy:

  • Completed FSC (Pre-Medical) with at least 60% marks in Pakistan.
  • Achieve a minimum score of 550 on each SAT-II topic.
  • Pass a foreign MCAT/UCAT with a minimum of 50% marks in Biology, Chemistry,
  • Mathematics, or Physics from a Higher Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.

The policy also requires that students achieve at least 50% in the MDCAT conducted in Pakistan. The MDCAT result is valid for three years for those who complete their intermediate education in Pakistan.

Under the policy, students must secure a PMDC Student Registration Certificate before starting their studies at a foreign medical institution. The medical program must include at least 6,200 hours of instruction, with a minimum attendance of 80%, spread over five years.

Moreover, students must spend at least six months learning the local language in countries where the medium of instruction is not English. They must also pass the National Registration Examination conducted by the PMDC to receive full registration.

Students must submit their residence details and contact numbers for their study country before going abroad. They are also required to obtain a multiple-entry visa valid for the entire duration of their studies.
