As May 1st approaches, many Pakistanis are flocking to social media to ask if it will be proclaimed a public holiday in honor of Labor Day, which is on a Wednesday this year.
Labor Day is celebrated every year in the world to acknowledge the efforts of the labor community of the world who are working tirelessly for the betterment of humanity.
While Labor Day (May 1) is historically commemorated as a public holiday in Pakistan, the federal government has yet to issue an official declaration.
Keeping in mind the previous years the government is announcing Labor Day as a holiday in Pakistan and the Cabinet Division’s list of holidays for the present year includes May 1st as an off-day.

If the public holiday is announced, both private and public offices are anticipated to be closed on May 1st. Furthermore, it is believed that the State Bank of Pakistan would declare a bank holiday on Labor Day.
It is critical to wait until the government makes an official pronouncement about the status of May 1st as a public holiday. Labor Day is often observed by closing schools, colleges, and universities throughout Pakistan, including those in major cities such as Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta.
