There is no good news coming from Lahore as on a recent Thursday morning, a fire broke out inside the immigration booths at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, bringing all aircraft operations to a standstill. The fire, which was eventually extinguished, caused substantial damage to the system.
The incident caused chaos among passengers and employees as many of them panicked and considered it a terrorist attack. The airport became a mess until authorities controlled the situation.
The airport officials stated that it would take some time for the smoke to clear, thus entry was limited until the area was declared safe. The event sparked a flurry of activity in the parking lot as individuals gathered to welcome or say goodbye to passengers.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a short circuit started the fire at the immigration desks, which soon spread across the airport. The quick development of the fire caused a rush of passengers, prompting a complete evacuation of the airport.
