Ashura, which occurs on Muharram 9 and 10, is remembered for the great sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) for Islam.
The Ashura date scheduled to take place this year on July 16 and 17, according to the weather department forecasts posted on Sunday.
This day is highly revered by Muslims, particularly in Shia communities, since it commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandson.
The government will announce a couple of holidays on the 9th and 10th of Muharram for the Muslims to remember the great martyrdom of the Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and can obtain lessons from the incident of Karbala.
Every year, special preparations are made for this event, with the government putting in place increased security measures to safeguard the safety of mourners, processions, and Majalis.
Previously, the federal government designated July 16 and 17 as Ashura holidays on its list of public holidays for the current year.
